Bahamas: Authorities continue enforcing localized COVID-19-related curfews and other restrictions as of June 7 /update 35

The Bahamas maintain COVID-19 curfews on multiple islands as of June 7; international travel restrictions largely unchanged since mid-April.

Warning

Event

As of June 7, authorities in the Bahamas continue to enforce COVID-19-related curfews and other restrictions; measures vary between the islands.

Enhanced Local Measures
On Cat Island and North and Central Andros, all persons must remain in their homes at all times, except to obtain or provide essential goods and services. Travel to these areas is only allowed with a special permit granted by authorities. These measures will remain in force until at least June 14. The same restrictions are in effect in In Bullocks Harbour and Great Harbour Cay, although the restrictions are indefinite in these areas.

A 22:00-05:00 curfew is in effect on Abaco, mainland Eleuthera and Exuma, Grand Bahama, and New Providence. In these areas, authorities have banned social gatherings and limited attendance at weddings and funerals (graveside only) to 20 people; receptions and banquets are prohibited. Officials are also enforcing additional health regulations for nonessential businesses, religious establishments, and beach visits; some entertainment and spa facilities remain closed.

On Abaco and New Providence, any person seeking to check in as a guest or use indoor hotel facilities, including restaurants and casinos, must present a negative result from a COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or antigen test. Unvaccinated persons traveling from Abaco, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama, Harbor Island, and New Providence to other islands in the Bahamas must provide a negative result from a PCR test taken before travel. This requirement does not apply to those traveling from Eleuthera to its surrounding islands and cays.

International Travel
International travel is permitted, although an entry ban for all vessels and persons arriving from Haiti remains until at least June 9. Travelers unable to provide valid proof of having been fully vaccinated at least two weeks before entry must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Those over the age of 10 must present a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken no more than five days before travel and apply for a Travel Health Visa.

  • Those visiting the country for more than four nights must take a rapid COVID-19 antigen test on day five.

  • Proof of insurance covering COVID-19 treatment is necessary.

All measures are subject to amendment at short notice.
