Moldova maintaining COVID-19 measures as of Aug. 12; domestic and international entry restrictions remain in effect.

Warning

Event

Authorities in Moldova are maintaining COVID-19-related international entry and domestic restrictions as of Aug. 12.

International Entry Restrictions
Authorities classify countries as "green" or "red" based on local levels of disease activity. Travelers who have only spent time in green locations in the previous 14 days must present a negative PCR test taken in the previous 72 hours or self-isolate for 14 days on arrival. Travelers who have spent any time in red locations in the previous 14 days must self-isolate for 14 days on arrival. Self-isolation can be ended early following a negative result from a test taken no less than five days after arriving. Travelers with certificates showing completed vaccination against COVID-19 no less than 14 days ago or recovery from COVID-19 in the previous 90 days are exempt from testing and isolation requirements. Additional exemptions are in place for transport workers, cross-border workers, and individuals in transit.

Domestic Restrictions
Most businesses in Moldova are permitted to operate provided they adhere to social distancing and capacity requirements. Facemasks are mandatory in enclosed public spaces and on public transport. Stricter measures are in place in areas with higher infection rates, including reduced limits on gatherings and reduced operating hours for certain sectors.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
