Suspected bandits reportedly attacked civilians in Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State, Nigeria, late Sept. 26 or early Sept. 27. Local authorities confirmed at least 34 people were killed and seven others were injured in a raid on Madamai village. There are unconfirmed reports of additional casualties from a likely bandit attack on nearby Abum village that also occurred during the same time period.
An increased security presence is likely in parts of Kaduna State over the coming days. Authorities may establish checkpoints or impose curfews as part of their security posture. Further such attacks remain likely.

Central and northern Nigeria are highly susceptible to attacks by bandits related to inter-ethnic and land disputes.
