Nigeria: Planned power upgrades to take place in parts of Lagos from Oct. 11

The Ikeja Electric (IE) energy company has stated that power disruptions will affect parts of Lagos, 08:00-18:00 daily, for eight weeks starting Oct. 11 due to cable upgrade works. The affected areas include Oregun, Anifowoshe, Ojodu, Magodo, Omole, Oba-Akran, Oke-Ira, Ogba, Omole Phase 1, and Ikeja.

Temporary commercial and communications disruptions are possible in the affected areas. Traffic disruptions and longer driving times are possible during these periods due to malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could also result in the temporary unavailability of essential services such as ATMs and filling stations.

Plan for electricity disruptions. Conserve batteries and restrict cellphone use to emergencies in case of an extended power outage. Exercise caution when driving or crossing streets in areas affected by power outages.
