Event
Maynilad Water Services will postpone a planned water outage in parts of Metro Manila and Cavite Province to 11:00 Oct. 29 to 23:59 Nov. 1. The company initially announced water service interruptions from Oct. 25-28. The water outage may potentially last up to 85 hours due to pipeline replacement works as part of a flood control project.
Affected areas include Las Pinas, Makati, Manila, Paranaque, and Pasay; as well as several areas in Cavite Province, including Bacoor, Cavite City, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta, and Rosario. Reports indicate that the water disruption will affect almost 3 million people. Maynilad Water Services will deploy water tankers to the affected communities.
Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely heavily on municipal water to maintain operations.
Advice
Stock up on drinking water in advance. Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
