Kyrgyzstan: Authorities to tighten COVID-19-related entry restrictions from Dec. 1 /update 25
Kyrgyzstan will tighten COVID-19-related international entry restrictions from Dec. 1; domestic measures in place.
Event
Kyrgyzstan will tighten international entry restrictions from Dec. 1 over concerns regarding the COVID-19 Omicron strain. From this date, all individuals entering Kyrgyzstan, including Kyrgyz nationals, must present a negative PCR test upon arrival. Authorities may require arrivals to undergo a medical check-up, including a visual assessment, temperature check, or rapid antigen test. Additionally, travel from countries where the Omicron variant has been identified will be prohibited, effective Dec. 1; however, authorities have not released an official list of affected countries.
Kyrgyzstan maintains a number of other entry restrictions in connection with COVID-19. All international arrivals entering by air are currently required to produce proof of full vaccination or a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. Diplomats, international transport crews, freight drivers, and infants are exempt from this requirement. Authorities may require arrivals to undergo a medical check-up, including a visual assessment and temperature check. Those who show symptoms of COVID-19 may be retested, taken to a state medical facility, or asked to isolate at their accommodation.
Domestic Measures
Domestic inter-regional transport services, including flights between Bishkek and Osh, are operating, though may have reduced services. Passengers could need to undergo health screenings before boarding. Most businesses are operating subject to social distancing requirements.
Authorities continue to advise against nonessential travel, and all persons leaving their accommodations must carry a contact-tracing form. Public gatherings are prohibited. Facemasks are mandatory on public transport and on some business premises.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
