Moldova: Authorities maintaining COVID-19-related restrictions as of Jan. 7 /update 25
Moldova maintaining COVID-19 related measures as of Jan. 7; domestic and international entry restrictions remain in effect.
Event
Authorities in Moldova are maintaining measures imposed to combat the spread of COVID-19 as of Jan. 7.
Domestic Measures
Most businesses are permitted to operate provided they adhere to social distancing and capacity requirements. Facemasks are mandatory in enclosed public spaces, on public transport, and at mass gatherings. Stricter measures may be enforced in areas with higher infection rates, including tighter limits on gatherings and reduced operating hours for certain sectors. Those over the age of 18 wishing to patronize restaurants, cinemas, nightclubs, concert halls, and other similar facilities must present one of the following documents:
A negative result from a PCR test taken within the previous 72 hours or a negative result from an antigen test taken within the previous 48 hours
A valid certificate of full vaccination against COVID-19
Proof of recovery from COVID-19 within the previous six months
A valid certificate verifying the presence of COVID-19 antibodies.
International Travel Restrictions
All international arrivals must present one of the following documents in order to enter the country:
A certificate of COVID-19 vaccination
Proof of recovery from the disease or the presence of COVID-19 antibodies
A negative result from a PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure, or a negative result from an antigen test taken within 48 hours before departure.
Authorities categorize certain countries as "red zones." Any travelers who have spent time in a red zone country in the preceding 14 days must possess a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to boarding regardless of vaccination or recovery status. The list of countries classified as red zones is available here.
Travelers unable to meet any of these requirements must fill out an online health form and isolate for 14 days on entry. Isolation can be ended early following a negative COVID-19 test taken on day seven. The online health form is available here.
Entry is prohibited for travelers who have visited Botswana, eSwatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe in the previous 14 days due to concerns regarding the Omicron variant of COVID-19. Exceptions are in place for Moldovan citizens. Permitted travelers must isolate for 14 days on entry, though this can be ended early following a negative COVID-19 test taken on day seven.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity.
