Authorities in Costa Rica have lifted the COVID-19-related facemask mandate as of May 13.

Authorities in Costa Rica have issued orders to lift the country's remaining COVID-19-related restrictions as of May 13. Under the new directives, the requirement to wear facemasks in indoor public settings has been lifted.

Domestic Measures
Restrictions have been lifted. However, businesses are allowed to require employees and customers to wear facemasks and/or show proof of being vaccinated against COVID-19 if they choose to. Workers in some higher-risk industries, such as healthcare, continue to be required to be vaccinated.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Heed the directives of local authorities. Reconfirm all health-related travel requirements before travel. Confirm appointments in advance.
