Ghana: Anti-government protest in Tamala, Northern Region, Aug. 20

Activists affiliated with the anti-government Coalition of Progressive Forces in Northern Ghana (COP-Northern Ghana) will gather at the Jubilee Park in Tamala, Northern Region, from 07:00 Aug. 20. Demonstrators are protesting a number of grievances, including misgovernance, the elevated cost of living, and security conditions. It remains unclear whether officials granted authorization for the event.

Heightened security and localized traffic disruptions are likely around the protest site. Given the anti-government nature of the protest, clashes between demonstrators and security forces are possible.
