Officials in Zhejiang Province, China, ease COVID-19 curbs in most parts of Yiwu as of Aug. 19. Lingering disruptions possible.
Event
Officials in Zhejiang Province are implementing eased COVID-19 curbs in Yiwu as of Aug. 19 after no new COVID-19 cases emerged in the last three days. Authorities have lifted silent management measures in most parts of Yiwu, except Dachen, Fotang, and Shangxi towns. Eased restrictions are also in place in the International Trade Market block. Most businesses, including e-commerce and logistics companies, may resume normal operations. Train services have resumed at Yiwu Railway Station.
The government continues to impose movement controls in three medium-risk areas in Yiwu. People living in medium-risk locations must limit movement to the immediate area. Authorities will restrict travel to and from the affected communities and enforce checkpoints in these areas to ensure compliance with movement restrictions. Officials typically extend measures until one week after the latest date of newly confirmed community cases, and will likely conduct several rounds of testing in these locations before easing restrictions.
Lingering business and transport disruptions are possible as businesses gradually reopen in the affected areas of Yiwu. Other provincial and municipal governments will likely withdraw COVID-19 testing and/or quarantine rules for those with recent travel history to the affected areas of Yiwu.
Yiwu is approximately 95 km (59 miles) south of Hangzhou.
