Uruguay eases COVID-19-related entry protocol as of Sept. 1.

Warning

Event

Authorities in Uruguay are easing COVID-19-related entry protocols as of Sept. 1. Visitors are no longer required to fill out an affidavit about their health and vaccination status prior to departure.

Domestic Measures
Facemasks are required for people with respiratory infections, health center personnel, and anyone entering a health center in light of rising COVID-19 cases. Authorities also highly recommend that individuals wear facemasks on public transportation. Most businesses are able to operate following health protocols.

International Travel Restrictions
Foreign nationals are required to have health insurance covering COVID-19 treatment. Foreign passengers who are not fully vaccinated must present a negative result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure for Uruguay. Persons who can show a positive RT-PCR test confirming disease infection no more than 90 and no fewer than 10 days before departure can enter without having to show proof of vaccination or take additional tests.

Officials could further tighten, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on local disease activity. Authorities could enforce targeted local measures in some areas assessed to be high risk.
