Authorities will likely maintain increased security measures in Tigi District, Deiyai Regency, Papua Province as of Dec. 13 due to riots in the area which began on Dec. 12. Several individuals reportedly started a fire at Waghete Market after a dispute with a vendor; the blaze affected at least 50 stalls and nine motorcycles in the area. The unrest injured four civilians and one military personnel. The police have arrested 11 suspects and deployed security personnel to the district.

The increased security measures could include setting up checkpoints and security cordons in the area over the coming days. Heightened security measures and roadblocks could affect transport in the region, especially roads connecting towns.

The incident site is about 87 km (54 miles) northwest of Timika.
