Warning

Event

Hong Kong officials will ease additional COVID-19 measures from Dec. 29. International travelers will no longer need to undergo a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival, but are advised to take a rapid antigen test for five days after arriving in Hong Kong. Additionally, authorities will end the vaccine pass scheme, which required residents to present their vaccination records electronically or on paper to enter designated venues such as bars and restaurants. Other social distancing measures, including a public gathering limit of 12 people, venue capacity limits, and home isolation requirements for close contacts of COVID-19 cases, will also be lifted. However, the current outdoor mask mandate, isolation requirements for COVID-19 cases, and ban on unvaccinated international arrivals will remain in effect.

Domestic Measures
Residents must wear facemasks in public areas, except for country parks. COVID-19 cases must self-isolate for at least five days at home or a community facility if cohabitants are at high risk and their living conditions do not provide adequate space. Individuals may exit quarantine after obtaining two consecutive negative RAT results on days 4 and 5.

International Travel Restrictions
Hong Kong permits entry for Hong Kong residents and children aged 11 or below from all locations and travelers from mainland China, Macau, and Taiwan, regardless of vaccination status. Nonresident foreign nationals aged 12 and above must be fully vaccinated or medically exempt with documentation to enter the territory. All travelers from Taiwan and international locations must also upload proof of a negative result of a PCR or RAT obtained within 48 and 24 hours respectively before departure via the Health Declaration Form.

Travelers can enter Hong Kong through the Shenzhen Bay and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge land checkpoints and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG). Cruise ships are gradually resuming operations.
