Two suicide bombers reportedly detonated explosives in the Muna Galti area of Maiduguri (Borno state) on the night (local time) of Thursday, January 30, killing five people and wounding several others. The Police Explosives Ordinance Department (EOD) responded to the scene and investigations are ongoing as of Friday, January 31.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the incident. Similar attacks are possible in Maiduguri and Borno state over the near term.
