French authorities blocked access to A35 and RN4 towards Kehl in the Neudorf area of Strasbourg as of 23:59 (local time) on Tuesday, December 11, as a security operation is ongoing in the city. Security forces have reportedly cornered the suspected gunman who opened fire on a crowd at a Christmas market earlier in the evening. At least two people have been killed and another 14 wounded in the incident. The suspect had been flagged for radicalization by French intelligence services and antiterrorism police units have taken over the investigation. A heavy police presence and associated transportation disruptions are anticipated in central Strasbourg in the coming hours.
