Pakistan: Nationwide Kashmir Solidarity Day events expected February 5

Pakistan expected to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day with rallies and demonstrations nationwide February 5; heightened security presence and associated disruptions expected

A government official confirmed that events marking Kashmir Solidarity Day on Wednesday, February 5, will be held nationwide. Islamabad has scheduled a Kashmir Marathon on Monday, February 3. Participants will start the race at 14:30 (local time) at Centaurus Mall and end at Faisal Mosque. Other rallies and demonstrations are expected in major urban areas on Wednesday and in the days leading up to Kashmir Solidarity Day. 

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected near any rally or demonstration, and along the marathon route.
