India: Storms to hit northern, northwestern, and central states on March 11-13

On Monday, March 9, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued orange alerts for states and union territories throughout northern, northwest, and central India warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, snow, and hail. The storm is expected to hit Wednesday, March 11 and continue until Friday, March 13.

Damaging winds, heavy rain, hail, disruptive snowfall, flooding, and associated transportation disruptions are expected.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate lingering transportation and business disruptions, confirm flight reservations, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
