Heavy rainfall has been impacting the region since Friday, November 22, causing flooding and mudslides and leaving roads inaccessible. Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing as of Sunday evening (local time).

More rainfall is forecast in West Pokot County over the coming days, which may cause additional landslides. Consequent transportation disruptions are to be expected in affected areas over the near term.
