Local forces clashed with military personnel in Kasonaweja (Mamberamo Raya regency) on Sunday, April 12, leaving three officers dead and two others wounded. The fatalities were recorded after local security forces conducted a reprisal attack for an alleged grievance between the two forces at around 07:15 (local time). An investigation into the incident is underway.

Further clashes in the region cannot be ruled out in the near term.
