On Tuesday, May 29, Caribbean Community (CARICOM) officials warned of ongoing immigration of Islamist militants from the Middle East to the Caribbean. CARICOM officials stated that the number of foreign militants traveling to the Caribbean region is "increasing exponentially." Among the countries reported to be most severely affected by such migration is Trinidad and Tobago. Heightened security measures are expected across CARICOM member states in the near-term.
