According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck 75km (47mi) north-northeast of Hihifo on Saturday, November 7. The quake struck at 22:27 (local time) at a depth of 33 km (21mi). There have been no immediate reports of casualties or infrastructural damage and no tsunami warnings have been issued.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
