Police in Karnataka state have announced increased security measures from Tuesday, December 3, through Friday, December 6, due to by-polls scheduled in 15 constituencies on Thursday, December 5. At least 2896 police officers and several specialist teams will deploy to the voting areas, according to local media outlets. The local police commissioner reportedly said that two constables will be deployed to each of the 238 polling booths identified as "hyper-sensitive," while one constable will be stationed at the remaining 826 polling booths. State authorities have authorized Section 144, which prohibits the assembly of more than four people in an area, to be imposed from Tuesday through Friday in the affected constituencies.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected in Karnataka state, particularly near polling stations.
