Russia: Evacuations reported in far east region due to suspected bomb threats January 13

Authorities order evacuations of public buildings in six cities in the far east due to bomb threats January 13; heightened security presence and transportation disruptions expected



Unconfirmed reports of explosive devices planted in public buildings prompted the evacuation of 50,000 children and 3500 teachers in Khabarovsk on Monday, January 13. Further evacuations were reported in schools, universities, and museums in Vladivostok, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Ussuriysk, Birobidzhan, and Blagoveshchensk. Evacuations had been previously reported in the region in December due to similar bomb threats.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected in the affected cities.
