Pakistan: Shutdown in Muzaffarabad January 10

On Thursday, January 10, the city of Muzaffarabad observed a complete shutdown to protest against environmental issues. The strike was called by an alliance of civil society activists under the banner of Save River, Save Muzaffarabad. Markets, shops, and stores were closed, while street vendors were absents from the streets. A similar strike was held in Garhi Dupatta, 20 km (12 mi) south of Muzaffarabad, in the Jhelum valley. Further related strikes are possible in the coming days.
