The Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) forecast strong winds to affect most of the country's coastal areas on Monday, April 20. A red weather warning (highest on a four-tier scale) will remain in place until 23:59 (local time) on Monday in the Kvarner Gulf and the Velebit channel where wind gusts of up to 130 kph (81 mph) are expected. Additional orange warnings (second highest on a four-tier scale) will be in effect until 23:59 on Monday in the West Istrian coast and the Rijeka region. The inclement weather could potentially persist throughout Tuesday, April 21.
