Warning

Event

The Railway Union (UF) is planning two 24-hour strikes along multiple train lines in Argentina from Tuesday, December 3, through Wednesday, December 4. According to union leaders, the Sarmiento line in Buenos Aires province will be shutdown from 00:01 (local time) until 23:59 on Tuesday. Similar work stoppages will affect short- and long-distance service on the Belgrano Cargas, San Martin, and Urquiza lines on Wednesday. Significant train disruptions and an increased demand for alternative transportation are expected during the strikes.

Context

Union leaders in Bueno Aires province are accusing employers of failing to provide appropriate hygiene and safety measures for female workers over the past five years, including failing to provide separate changing rooms and restrooms.

Advice

Potentially impacted travelers are advised to keep abreast of the situation, confirm train reservations, plan alternative routes or modes of transportation, and allow additional time to travel.
