Opposition march scheduled in Kinshasa on January 17 in support of Beni’s population; avoid all gatherings

The LAMUKA opposition party is planning a march in Kinshasa on Friday, January 17, to coincide with the death anniversary of national hero Patrice Emery Lumumba. Participants plan to gather from 08:00 (local time) at Place Pascal, before marching towards l'Echangeur de Lemete for a remembrance ceremony at 15:00 in support of Beni's population and denounce the country's economic and physical fragmentation. Other marches may take place in other parts of the country.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions, including road closures, are expected in the vicinity of all demonstration sites.
