US: Winter storm watch in effect for Illinois state February 25-26
National Weather Service issues winter storm watch for parts of Illinois state, including Chicago, from February 25-26; associated flight and transportation disruptions expected

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a winter storm watch for northern parts of Illinois state, including the city of Chicago, from Tuesday, February 25, into Wednesday, February 26. Heavy snowfall at rates of up to 2.5 cm (1 in) per hour are possible starting on Tuesday evening (local time), with totals of up to 20 cm (8 in). Transportation disruptions, including flight delays and cancelations, are possible at Chicago’s Midway International Airport (MDW) and O'Hare International Airport (ORD). Delta and United airlines are both offering travel waivers for passengers booked on flights from February 25-26. The winter weather may also cause adverse driving conditions in the area and disrupt commuter rail service.
