According to media reports, authorities imposed an indefinite curfew in Chingola (Copperbelt province) on Sunday, January 19, following recent episodes of riots triggered by suspected ritual killings. As such, bars in the area are reportedly expected to close at 20:00 (local time) and everyone found outdoors after 20:00 will be arrested.

An increased security presence is expected in the area in the near term. Further acts of violence are possible.
