US: Hurricane Lane to pass south of Hawaii from August 21 /update 1

Event

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Lane is located approximately 2700 km (1675 mi) east-southeast of Hilo as of Friday, August 17. Current forecasts suggest Lane will pass south of the Hawaiian archipelago beginning late on August 21, without making landfall. No storm warnings are currently in effect, although strong winds and rain are possible across the state beginning early next week.

The Pacific Hurricane Season extends from May 15 to November 30, with the largest concentration of storms typically occurring between August and October.
