Members of the "Noo Lank" civil society group have called for demonstrations in Thies on Saturday, February 15, and in Dakar on Friday, February 21, against the rise of electricity costs in Senegal. Protests will also call for the release of an activist arrested in a related protest on Friday, November 29.
A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are to be expected near any demonstration site. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.
