Parliamentary elections to be held on August 30; avoid all gatherings

Warning

Event

Parliamentary elections will be held on Sunday, August 30, across Montenegro. The two major parties seeking seats are President Milo Djukanovic's Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the opposition For the Future of Montenegro (ZBCG). The election follows months of anti-government protests over a controversial religious property law. A ban on public gatherings remains in effect due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

A heightened security presence is expected across the country in an effort to enforce the ban on public gatherings.

Advice

Those in Montenegro are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
