A civil society group has called for a demonstration on Tuesday, January 21, to celebrate Ireland's Independence Day, though not officially recognised by the government. Participants plan to gather from 12:00 to 14:00 (local time) in front the Mansion House.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are to be anticipated near the demonstration site.

Context

The Declaration of Independence Day Bill, which has passed the first stage in the Senate, would declare January 21, as Ireland's Independence Day, starting on  2021.
