Around one thousand protesters gathered outside Papeete's territorial assembly on Saturday, June 20. A number of issues were being protested against, including corruption, development projects, colonialization, and nuclear weapons. The demonstration is reported to have passed off peacefully.

Further demonstrations are reportedly planned over the next two weeks and associated disruption around protest sites should be anticipated.
