The pro-government Independent Council of Patriots (ICOP) activist group has called for a protest in Monrovia on Saturday, January 11. ICOP leaders are organizing the rally in response to a demonstration held by the opposition Council of Patriots (COP) group on Monday, January 6, to demand the resignation of President George Weah. Participants plan to gather at the Capitol building, however, organizers did not immediately announce an exact meeting time.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected near the protest site.
