China: 5.0-magnitude earthquake strikes near Tiandian (Hubei province) December 26

The US Geological Survey recorded a 5.0-magnitude earthquake around 5 km (3 mi) south of Tiandian (Hubei province) on Thursday, December 26. The quake hit at around 14:36 (local time) at a depth of 10 km (6.2 mi). There were no immediate reports of injuries or significant infrastructure damage.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
