Police in Columbus (Ohio state) are responding to a suspected shooter barricading himself inside a home in the western part of the city on Monday, December 16. Police initially responded to reports of multiple shots fired near Apple Blossom Lane, off Eakin Road, in West Columbus; Briggs High School and Lindbergh Elementary School are on lockdown as of Monday afternoon (local time). The number of associated casualties was not immediately reported.

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected in the affected area over the near term.
