6.0-magnitude earthquake strikes WNW of Haveluloto on November 11; no tsunami warning immediately issued, aftershocks are possible

The United State Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 6.0-magnitude earthquake which struck 298 km (185 mi) west-northwest of Haveluloto on Wednesday, November 11. The quake struck at 13:48 (local time) at a depth of 417 km (259 mi). There have been no immediate reports of casualties or infrastructural damage and no tsunami warnings have been issued.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days. 

Advice

Those in the affected areas are advised to monitor the situation and prepare for potential aftershocks.

In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves as much as possible from falling debris if indoors (e.g., under a table), move away from windows, and not attempt to leave a building unless there is immediate danger. If outdoors, move away from tall buildings, utility wires, and streetlights.
