A joint commemorative march to mark Malampa Day and Fiji's Independence day has been planned in Port Vila on Saturday, October 10. Natives of Malampa province and Fijian nationals plan to gather at Fatumaru Bay from 08:30 (local time) and march to Saralana Park. Organizers have stated that hundreds of people will participate in the event.

A heightened security presence should be expected in Port Vila at the march sites and along the likely march route, along Kumul and Linl highways. Localized disruptions to transport and business in the area should also be expected.
