Warning

Event

Several teachers' unions have called for a protest in Zagreb on Monday, November 25, to demand a wage increase and denounce working conditions. Participants plan to gather at 12:05 (local time) at the Ban Jelacic Square, though other small protests are expected in Zagreb and in other urban centers across Croatia. Teachers have been on strike since Tuesday, November 19, and the unions have said that teachers will continue the work stoppages indefinitely until their demands are met.

Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are likely near all protest sites.

Advice

Individuals in Croatia, and Zagreb especially, are advised to avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, allow additional time to reach their destinations, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
