The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has asked the Grameenphone, Robi, Banlalink, and Teletalk phone carriers to block operations up to one kilometer (0.6 mile) from its borders on Sunday, December 29. Around 2000 mobile towers are expected to be turned off in the coming hours and days, impacting over 10,000 people in the 32 districts sharing borders with India and Myanmar.
