Two men hijacked a hotel minibus at Dublin Airport (DUB) at approximately 01:00 (local time) on Wednesday, January 8, holding the bus's three passengers hostage. The passengers were robbed and then let off the bus near Julianstown, while the suspected hijackers drove the bus to Ireland's northern border where they were eventually apprehended by police. The suspects are in custody as of Wednesday morning; no one was harmed in the incident.

A heightened security presence is to be expected at Dublin Airport over the coming hours and days.
