Advice

Those planning to travel to affected regions should consider deferring their trip. If undertaking essential travel, ensure that you have comprehensive security and travel plans in place before your departure. Maintain contact with your diplomatic mission and have contingency plans in place to deal with emergencies. Expect heightened security measures in affected regions. Carry relevant identification documents to ease passage at checkpoints and adhere to all official directives. Authorities may close roads in affected areas or even implement curfews. Authorities may also deploy very heavy security in affected areas/city and potentially other key cities/regions in an effort to prevent further violent outbreaks. In addition to increased police presence, security measures may include road blocks, restrictions on movements, and random searches of individuals or vehicles, among others.
