Germany: Storm Sabine to impact Germany February 9-11

Storm Sabine is expected to bring gale force winds and heavy rainfall across much of Germany between Sunday, February 9, and Tuesday, February 11. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), strong gusts of up to 120 kph (75 mph) will be felt in the northwest as early as Sunday morning, after which the storm will begin tracking toward central and southern regions. The storm is expected to persist through Monday, February 10, into early (local time) Tuesday. Sabine is expected to cause significant disruptions to air and land transportation services. Officials with Lufthansa said that flight cancelations and delays should be expected from Saturday evening until Tuesday. Passengers with trips during this time frame have been advised to delay their travels.
