Heavy rain and snowfall leave four dead in Peshawar and Kohat districts as of January 7; monitor local weather reports

Four people have died as of Tuesday, January 7, in incidents related to heavy rain and snowfall in Peshawar and Kohat districts (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province). Two people were killed and several others injured as a result of their houses collapsing under the weight of snow and rain. Heavy snowfall has been recorded across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province since Saturday, January 4, with up to 25 cm (10 in) reported in some mountainous areas. Transportation and power disruptions have been reported as a result of the snowfall across the province.

Although most rain and snowfall has subsided as of Wednesday, January 8, residual transportation and power disruptions are expected over the near term.
