The Democratic Municipal and Allied Workers Union of South Africa (DEMAWUSA) trade union has called for Metrobus workers in Johannesburg to launch an indefinite strike starting on Monday, January 28. According to union representatives, the strike is being organized over wage disputes. As of January 28, it remains unclear how long the strike will last. Nevertheless, Metrobus officials have stated that negotiations between the transportation operator and the trade union are at an advanced stage. Transportation disruptions on the city's Metrobus network are to be expected during the strike.
