Nigeria: Civil society groups to hold protests nationwide November 27

Numerous unions and civil society groups will hold nationwide protests on Wednesday, November 27, to demand the release of detained political activists, including prominent protest leader and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore. Context

Sowore was arrested by Department of State Services officers in Lagos on August 3, ahead of a planned August 5 mass protests under the title "#RevolutionNow" to demand greater democracy and governance. He has been charged with treason and money laundering.
