The Department warned that winds of between 50-60kph (31-37mph) are to be expected in these provinces. Associated disruptions to transport, business, and utilities are possible over the near term as the storm system passes.

Powerful storm systems can affect the country mostly between April and December. Most cyclones approach from the eastern coast and cross through the central and northern provinces. Other trajectories, however, have been recorded. The impact of these storm systems varies depending on their intensity, although in general they have the potential to wreak havoc in affected areas.

Advice

Those in affected areas are advised to monitor weather reports and adhere to any directives or advice issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
