Recent heavy rain in southern regions of Bolivia as of Monday, November 30, has caused flooding in areas of Tarija. Federal troops have been deployed to affected areas of the city to mitigate damage and to assist in rescue and recovery efforts. Thus far, the worst of the flooding has been concentrated in the Juan Pablo II neighborhood. Heavy equipment has been deployed to clear affected travel routes to allow for the safe passage of emergency vehicles. Further rainfall is forecast over the coming days.
