Chad: Opposition group to protest COVID-19 restrictions in in N'Djamena Jan. 13

Activists to hold sit-in protest at Ministry of Public Health in N'Djamena, Chad, from 0700 Jan. 13 to denounce COVID-19 restrictions.

The opposition Sacred Union for the Republic (USPR) party has called for sit-in demonstrations against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions Jan. 13. The event will be held at the Ministry of Public Health facility in Quartier Bololo from 0700. Protesters are demanding an end to strict COVID-19 restrictions in the capital, N'Djamena.

Security personnel will almost certainly deploy to monitor the protest. Skirmishes are possible, especially if security personnel attempt to disperse demonstrators forcibly or prevent protesters from gathering at the Ministry of Public Health building. Transport disruptions are possible in the vicinity of the event.
